If you're feeling a little bit old today, I've got the perfect remedy to help cheer you up: A search engine giant was born today, and it's something that might alarm some people because they haven't realized exactly how much time (and how many milestones ) has passed between the birth of this search engine and now. But like it or not, we're now, today, celebrating Google's 18th Birthday!!! I'm not kidding. Really ! That's right, folks. The venerable search engine we all love and turn to in our daily lives is now, officially, old enough to be an adult . In fact, since corporations are people , perhaps it HAS become an adult today? In 1985, +Bernie Sanders , then mayor of the City of Burlington , Vermont, granted protections to its citizens, including LGBTQ persons . This bold move was deemed to be political suicide and the end of his career in politics. But it wasn't the first time Sanders has supported LGBTQ rights. His 1970 letter advocating the repeal of laws against "deviant behavior" implies support for marriage equality Sanders's support for civil rights and of LGBTQ communities extends to the beginning of his career . The world hasn't just become wicked...it' s always been wicked. The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving. Irena Sendler There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena. During WWII, Irena obtained permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. However, she had an 'ulterior motive'. She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews (being German). Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried, and she carried a burlap sack (for larger kids) in the back of her truck. She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids'/infants' noises.
